My First Sims Game

It seemed only right that my inaugral blog post should be about the first sims game I played! I know the Sims games hold so much nostalgia for so many people, and I’m no different. I don’t remeber exactly, but I think I must have been about ten or eleven when I properly got into the Sims!

It’s an overcast weekday afternoon, and I’m going home with a friend after school. We sit in the back of her mum’s car, yapping excitedly and waving at the cars behind us. When we reach the house, we kick off our shoes, say hi to the cats, and head straight for the PC so my friend can show me the game she just got. We spend hours each creating a sim, deliberating over their traits and creating a life story for them. We drop them into an empty lot and build them a little house, ready to start their new life as virtual roommates.

When I go home that evening, I tell my mum about the game I played at my friend’s house this afternoon, how much fun it was and how much I would love to have the Sims 3 too.

I quickly fell in love with the Sims and began to pick up spinoffs that I found at car boot sales, leading me to discover the Sims 1 for console, the Sims Bustin’ Out, and Sims 2 for DS (which I’ve played through many, many times!).

Bustin’ Out is a particularly nostalgic game for me – I remeber playing it on my dad’s Xbox. I also remember it being really hard, and having to start new saves all the time because I just couldn’t keep my sim happy!

This is what I remeber as being my introduction to the Sims series. I’m a little young to have played the Sims 1 from release as I know some of you will have, but I have so much respect for the older games and their unique, quirky vibe. I have been a Sims fan since childhood, and here I still am today!

If anyone else has any nostalgic memories of the Sims, please feel free to share them! It’s one of my favourite things to talk about, after all!

Until next time ❤
